Like watching Formula 1 with your mates?
Then throw a Grand Prix Party!

Enjoy having a few friends round to watch your favourite Grand Prix together? Ever think it might be fun to make a bit more of a party of it? You've come to the right place!

The whole aim of this site is to give you some ideas and resources to help you throw a Formula 1 party with your friends. Yes, you could just turn the TV on and hope somebody remembers to bring a few lagers with them. Somewhere at the back of the cupboard there's a packet of cheese and onion crisps you haven't eaten yet, right? OR, you could go to town a bit, and for very little money turn the whole thing into a party that everyone will remember.

It doesn't take a lot of effort to decorate the room in the colours of the team you're cheering for, or the country where the Grand Prix is taking place. There are countless sources of flags, bunting, scarves and other ways to decorate your room (or yourself!) available, and we'll try to link you up with some of them. Or take it a step further, and find some wine or beer from the country involved. One thing we've got loads of on this site is recipes from around the world, so whether you're a budding chef or a bit of a novice in the kitchen, there should be some ideas here that will give your Formula 1 party some culinary pizazz!

Of course, there's nothing to stop you using the ideas on this site for a party that's not strictly F1-related. But if you are having a few mates round to watch the Grand Prix on TV, why not make the most of the occasion?!

And if you have any ideas to add to this site, please get in touch!

Throwing a Formula 1 Party? Plan ahead!

The secret to making anything successful is often in the planning, and that is certainly true if you're throwing a Formula 1 party. A little advance planning will help create a party to remember.
Here are some of the things to think about:

  • On the right we have laid out the calendar for the F1 season, so you can plan those party dates in plenty of time around specific events!
  • Now you've got the date in your diary, check out our party planning guide to make sure you get everything sorted out in time.
  • Themed recipes from around the world - theme your food to match the teams, players or nations that are taking part!
  • If you're theming the food, you may as well theme the drinks as well! We've started building a database of drinks ideas from around the world
  • Nibbles - it's not a party without nibbles!
  • Flags & Decorations - deck the room out in the colours of the team you're cheering on, or of the country where the Grand Prix is taking place!

Party Decorations

When it comes to decorating your room (and yourself!) for your Formula 1 Party, there are two routes you can go down. You can either theme the decor to the country where the Grand Prix is taking place, or decorate in the colours of the team you are supporting. We've got plenty of ideas for either route, but there isn't room to fit them all on this page! Hopefully the following links will prove helpful though:
  • For generic colour-themed items (e.g. red table cloths, white napkins, yellow balloons etc) please visit our General Party Decorations Page
  • For country-specific decorations (e.g. Australian flags, Malaysian bunting, etc), visit the separate pages for each Grand Prix by following the links in the column on the right
  • For shirts, scarves, flags, hats etc which are specific to the F1 teams, please visit our F1 Team Merchandise page
There are loads of ideas out there, most are relatively cheap, so it shouldn't cost the earth to make your front room into the perfect setting for your F1 Party ahead of the next Grand Prix.
